Forest sketch made in oil on a sheet of paper measuring 45.7 x 32 cm; on the bottom left the title and the date Forèt de Fontainbleau 1882, completed with a brush. The unknown author of the fresh operetta shares the naturalism and values of the painters of the Barbizon School, who had as their favorite subject the 10 km forest that goes from Barbizon to Fontainbleau, with which they subverted the traditional hierarchy of pictorial genres, assuming as subject the landscape itself is the protagonist. But the date and a looser draft confirm that the painter interprets this same culture with a younger language of rapid brushstrokes and pure colors, already
