(QP692)
The category of Old Paintings, Landscape With French Heath, offers an Oil Painting On Canvas from the 19th century.
Old landscape paintings, a work that proposes a naturalistic environment, a sweet and luminous valley crossed by a river.
In the foreground, a field covered with flowering heather bushes, which gives chromatic vivacity to the scene.
In the background, in the distance, a hilltop village with a bell tower stands out, immersed in the warm and diffuse light of sunset or dawn.
These are landscape paintings that represent nature and painted with warm and luminous colors, the atmosphere is serene and poetic.
En plein air painting typical of the tradition of the Barbizon school.
The antique work is signed in the lower right E. Pail, French landscape painter.
Édouard Pail (1851 – 1916) was born in Corbigny, in the Nièvre region (Burgundy), studied in Nevers and later in Paris,
where he came into contact with the artistic environment linked to landscape painting and the Barbizon and Impressionist school.
He was a pupil of Lavoignat and Léon Bonnat. He began exhibiting at the Paris Salon in 1878, receiving appreciation and becoming a member.
He exhibited regularly in Paris and in the provinces. He obtained medals at the Salon and official recognition, in 1887 and 1893.
His canvases are exhibited in several important French museums: Musée des beaux-arts de Brest,
Musée d'art et d'histoire Romain-Rolland, Musée d'art Roger-Quilliot and Musée Hyacinthe-Rigaud.
The oil painting is dressed with a beautiful original golden frame.
