He was a pupil of Lavoignat and Léon Bonnat. He began exhibiting at the Paris Salon in 1878, receiving appreciation and becoming a member. He exhibited regularly in Paris and in the provinces. He obtained medals at the Salon and official recognition, in 1887 and 1893. His canvases are exhibited in several important French museums: Musée des beaux-arts de Brest, Musée d'art et d'histoire Romain-Rolland, Musée d'art Roger-Quilliot and Musée Hyacinthe-Rigaud.
