Panoramic view of the city of Savona and its western coast at the beginning of the 19th century, a work by an unidentified artist. Large drawing of 54 x 20 cm made in pencil with slight highlights of white lead on a sheet of paper obtained by assembling 3 glued sheets (joints on the back), and relined on the back with application on more recent cardboard. With analytical precision, the artist depicts a wide strip of territory that includes both the city as it was at the beginning of the 19th century, its western coast, and the hinterland to the west, and with great skill in drawing allows us to recognize even today places and monuments still existing, among which we mention: - in the left part of the drawing (photo 2), the Port and the Fortress of Priamar, the alignment of which also reveals the exact point of observation of the artist, who was on the first hills behind the current San Paolo Hospital; - in the middle part of the drawing (photo 3), the bell towers of the center, the Cathedral, and the Town Hall buildings (the Chiabrera theater was not there yet); - in the right part (photo 4) the western coast with the small inhabited centers of the coast, Zinola, Vado Ligure, and in the background the islet of Bergeggi, behind which Capo Noli can be glimpsed. In the lower right, the word "Savona" is written in pencil followed by unintelligible figures-letters (photo 5). The drawing is of interest both from an artistic point of view for the remarkable romantic taste and as a historical document on the state of the city and places at the beginning of the 19th century. The sheet is in excellent condition.
