Painting depicting landscape with figures by Edward Henry Holder. Excellent playing quality. Complete with coeval gilded frame. Yorkshire landscape painter, born in Scarborough in 1847 and died in 1922. He exhibited from 1864-93 in Suffolk Street, also at the Royal Academy (1872-73). His images are mostly coastal views of Yorkshire. He lived in London and painted Surrey and Sussex pictures, then visited South Africa, where he made many commissioned paintings. In 1917 he exhibited a view of the Victoria Falls on the Zambezi at the Royal Academy. Many of his paintings are in the City Art Gallery in York. Excellent state of conservation.
