19th century Pair of allegorical figures on floats Oil on canvas, 74 x 101 cm - with frame 88 x 114 cm Signed lower right “Del Buono” This precious pair of mythological paintings was created by the painter Luigi del Buono; painter of whom almost nothing is known except the year of his birth in 1800 and some of his pictures, all allegorical and mythological, often depicting fleshy and jubilant cherubs pulling chariots or amorous scenes between divinities. The first example examined here shows a small chariot with a winged putto pulled by a lion and a panther, a clear reference to the God of intoxication Bacchus, as stated in the inscription “Char de Bacc
