BIOGRAPHY: Henri-Pierre Picou (Nantes, February 27, 1824 - July 17, 1895) was a French painter. His work began with portraits and classical historical subjects, but later moved on to allegorical and mythological themes. He was an academic painter and one of the founders of the neo-Greek school, together with his closest friends Gustave Boulanger, Jean-Léon Gérôme and Jean-Louis Hamon, also academic painters. All of them studied in the laboratories of Paul Delaroche and then of Charles Gleyre. Picou's style was noticeable
