PAIR OF LATE 19TH CENTURY OVAL PASTEL PAINTINGS
Elegant pair of oval paintings, made in pastel on paper and framed by a carved and gilded wooden frame. The highly refined frames, embellished with ribbons at the top, house two portraits depicting two women, with a landscape background. The women are both depicted in profile, with their faces in three-quarter view; one of them is more mature, wearing a black dress embellished with jewels, while the other, younger, wears a dress adorned with roses and sports a particular Art Nouveau hairstyle, with her hair up. These are two paintings of great value, appreciable for their technique and stylistic rendering, highlighted by the attention to detail, capable of furnishing any environment with elegance and a touch of antiquity. On the painting of the older woman, the signature of the painter F. Arrighi is present in the lower right, which allows us to attribute the two paintings to an Italian manufacture from the end of the 19th century.
