The artist's signature is above the sitter's right shoulder.
The painter, born in Pesaro in 1825,
was a leading exponent of the Macchiaioli,
a group of artists active in Tuscany in the second half of the 19th century.
He died in Florence in 1884.
Painting in good condition with a frame requiring consolidation.
