Rest on the flight to Egypt
Oil on panel dating from the early nineteenth century. The small painting is taken with some variations from the "Madonna of the rest", the great altarpiece (cm.240x158) made by Benvenuto Tisi called the Garofalo around 1525 and preserved in the Pinacoteca Civica di Ferrara, of which numerous copies of different ages are known (Bibl .: Fioravanti Baraldi, Il Grarofalo - General Catalog, Luisè Editore 1998, pag.175-178) Author is probably the Ferrara restorer and painter Gregorio Boari (1795-1865); these, after having trained in Rome on the canons of academic classicism, refining the technique also thanks to the copies
