Refined Venetian frame in late Baroque style, datable between the late 17th and early 18th centuries, subsequently adapted as a mirror in the early decades of the 20th century. Made of softwood, probably Swiss pine, it features a rich decoration with highly plastic and dynamic cartouche motifs, which recall the ornamental taste of the Venetian school, with possible influences of the so-called "Gusto d'Oron". The frame is entirely hand-carved and finished with gold leaf gilding and greenish lacquer, which accentuates the volumes and restores depth to the decorated surface. The chromatic contrast between gilding and lacquering confers a vibrant and scenic effect, typical of Venetian frames, intended for paintings or mirrors of great impact. The back retains a label with the word "Belluno" and the number 153, further indication of the Venetian origin of the work. The wooden structure and the original suspension irons confirm the authenticity of the piece, as well as the traces of the artisanal assembly visible on the back. The overall dimensions are: Width 105 cm – Height 115 cm. The frame is in a good state of conservation, with a coherent patina and signs of aging that attest to its era and history of use. A probable readjustment of the back in the early twentieth century for the inclusion of the current mirror, which appears coeval to that phase, is noted. Worldwide shipping available.
