PAIR OF ITALIAN GILTWOOD MIRRORS 19TH CENTURY NEAPOLITAN LOUIS PHILIPPE MIRRORS
A spectacular pair of Italian 19th century Louis Philippe Neapolitan giltwood mirrors.
Each mirror has a straight bottom border and top shaped moulded giltwood frame. The frames are wonderfully decorated with hand-carved scrolled foliate pierced garlands, acanthus leaves, flowers and scrolls. All decorations are mounted, fixed by metal plates and screws in the back.
Beveled modern mirrors. Original gold-leaf gilding with a lovely contrast between the burnished, shiny and matt parts.
The fine gold plating is played on the contrast between the burnished (shiny) and opaque parts. All original gilt.
This Italian Neapolitan pair of antique giltwood mirrors comes from a private palazzo in Milano downtown.
Good age related condition, wear consistent with age and use, showing old gilding restorations.
