The sinuous and asymmetrical shape, combined with the careful relief work, gives the piece an extraordinary stage presence. In the lower part there is a holy water font sculpted in the shape of a vase with a shell, also finely decorated, which indicates the original destination of the piece for religious or devotional use, probably as a wall element in a private chapel or in a noble domestic environment.
