Pair of Venetian walnut bedside tables, Directory period (early 19th century)
Elegant pair of bedside tables from the Vicenza area, made in the very early years of the 19th century, during the Directory period. The simple and linear design, without projecting frames, gives these pieces of furniture a rigorous and geometric appearance, perfectly in line with the tradition of Venetian cabinet making of the early 19th century. The parallelepiped structure, with straight legs with a square section, expresses a sober and functional taste, slightly rustic, but at the same time refined. The bedside tables are made of solid walnut and are characterized by two superimposed drawers with oval brass handles. A refined detail is represented by the inlaid threading with geometric motifs that runs vertically along the front edges, highlighting the 90° angle with discreet elegance. The state of conservation is excellent: the furniture is intact and ready for use, possibly to be revived with a light coat of wax. Measures:Width: 40 cmDepth: 34 cmHeight: 78.5 cm
