ROSEWOOD CABINET - FRANCE - NAPOLEON III
Rosewood and Exotic Wood Louis XV/Transition Style Cabinet, Napoleon III Period
This refined cabinet, datable to the Napoleon III era (second half of the 19th century), masterfully reproduces the elegant lines and decorative techniques typical of the Louis XV and Transition styles.
Materials and Construction Techniques:
Main Essence: Predominantly made of fine Rosewood and Palisander wood, woods characterized by a marked grain and a warm color, which give the furniture a luxurious aesthetic.
Inlays: The cabinet is embellished with a visible thread on all surfaces.
The herringbone patterns (or "chevron") are made with great precision, alternating light and dark shades of rosewood and palisander, to create a dynamic and three-dimensional effect.
Top: The upper top features a geometric inlay centered by a "star" or four-pointed compass rose, made with contrasting woods (ebony for the dark tips and rosewood for the bottom). The edge of the top is shaped in a wavy shape, adding a touch of grace.
Profiles and Threading: Detailed contrasting threads, in maple, delineate the edges of the drawers, side panels and top.
Interiors: The interior of the upper drawer is made of solid oak wood, which guarantees robustness.
Below it, a small hinged door.
Configuration and Functionality:
Drawers: The cabinet has a front drawer, herringbone veneered, which offers practical storage space.
Elegant gilded bronze knobs in the shape of a chiseled rosette.
Lower Flap: Under the drawer there is a small flap or folding door that opens downwards, revealing an internal compartment.
Structure and Style:
Legs: The cabinet rests on four sinuous and tapered legs, in the "saber" or "cabriole" style typical of Louis XV, which give lightness and elegance to the structure.
Lower Band: The lower band is elegantly shaped with a "apron" motif typical of the Rococo, which harmoniously connects the legs.
Dimensions:: Height 77 cm, Width 38 cm, Depth 32 cm.
Conditions: The cabinet is in good general condition, restored and French polished
