This pair of elegant benches was made around the second half of the 18th century in central Italy. The structure of the benches is in carved, lacquered, and gilded wood. They have a molded and curvilinear under-seat band lacquered in shades of blue-green. Surrounded by a gilded reserve, the band is decorated with gilded wood reliefs in a floral design. Each bench has eight inverted truncated cone legs, fluted, lacquered and gilded, with a circular capital and gilded tip. Two armrests depart from the seat, characterized by arched, moving elements culminating in curls with gilded flower decorations.
The pair of benches, stable and refined, is very decorative and of great furnishing value. The benches can be presented side by side or interspersed with consoles and chests of drawers. They can be used in entrances or corridors, in lounges and studies, suitable for being placed next to both antique and modern furnishings.
