Made entirely of finely carved solid walnut wood, presumably from a workshop in the Lombardy-Veneto area in the 17th century. The imposing, typically Baroque backrest shows a double symmetrical scroll motif, culminating in a central shield cartouche, a symbol used in noble or ecclesiastical furnishings.
