Chest of drawers veneered in kingwood, with chiselled and gilded bronze applications, marked Christophe Wolff, Paris, mid-18th century
Description
Louis XV commode with wavy front and sides, featuring fluted uprights in relief, opening with two large drawers without intermediate rails, with retractable supports. The chest is entirely decorated with "butterfly wing" kingwood veneers and bordered by maple threads. An elegant decoration in chiselled and gilded bronze complements the furniture: handles, keyholes, sabots and decorations on the apron and uprights. The top is surmounted by a marble slab. The C. Wolff mark is stamped on the right rear upright.
