Inlaid chest of drawers
Item description
Inlaid chest of drawers in walnut and various woods. Chest of drawers characterized by a curved front consisting of three large drawers equipped with handles and locks. Four ball feet, with a slight geometric carving, support the structure enriched by a grooved base and a slightly projecting top. The surface is richly inlaid with geometric shapes completed by threads, large reserves alternate in different shades in a succession of various essences. The top also has inlays with reserves that follow the shape of the chest of drawers. The front, in addition to the fine curved workmanship, presents an even richer inlay. The design executed using this ancient technique is particularized in the asymmetry on the drawer fronts. In fact, while on one side one of the curls inlaid in the central reserve bends upwards, its counterpart bends downwards. This type of furniture with a great visual impact testifies to the skill and refinement of the cabinet makers of the 18th century. The Louis XV style, through the curved line, is emphasized by the rich geometric inlay, while the "break" of the rigorous symmetry still testifies to the strong Baroque influence.
