Lombard Louis XVI inlaid chest of drawers A rare chest of drawers with three drawers, one of which is under the top, entirely veneered and inlaid in various woods with threads and decorations with phytomorphic motifs, frets and geometric profiles. Walnut top. The front has an under-top drawer with inlaid reserves of foliage and stylized branches, and two underlying drawers of equal size, with reserves of central floral motifs and perimeter frets. The sides, also veneered, have a panel in the center with inlays of phytomorphic spirals. Tapered obelisk feet. Period: Louis XVI (late 18th century) Origin: Lombardy Materials: Walnut, rosewood, boxwood. Dimensions: Height: 86 cm Width: 127 cm Depth: 58 cm Conditions: Excellent general condition, restored and refinished with shellac. Minimal signs of aging consistent with age. Additional details: Handles and escutcheons in contemporary bronze. Drawer interiors in poplar. The piece of furniture has a great executive quality and a remarkable aesthetic impact, typical of Lombard cabinet-making production of the Louis XVI period.
