The chest of drawers in question is a valuable example of Bolognese furniture dating back to the Louis XVI period, datable to the last quarter of the 18th century. It is distinguished by its elegant and sober linearity, typical of the neoclassical style, enriched by exceptional cabinet-making mastery. The structure, with a rectangular parallelepiped shape, rests on four truncated pyramid legs, which taper downwards and end with a slight twisted carving. This detail, together with the clean line of the legs, gives momentum and lightness to the entire piece of furniture. The front of the chest of drawers is divided into three drawers, the first and highest of which is concealed in the undertop. This constructive choice is a distinctive feature of the Emilian production of the period. The surface of each drawer, as well as the top and sides, is entirely covered with elaborate inlay. The veneer, made of walnut, cherry and boxwood, creates a warm and refined chromatic contrast. The inlaid decoration is particularly refined and develops with geometric patterns. The drawer panels feature a "herringbone" inlay, arranged to form two symmetrical arrows that meet in the center. Here, an elegant inlaid plate in the shape of an elongated hexagon frames the escutcheon of the lock. The drawers are equipped with shield-shaped boxwood vents, in a neoclassical style. The first drawer, in the undertop, is decorated with a band of crossed hexagons, a geometric motif that is also repeated on the sides of the furniture. The cabinet-making quality is excellent, as demonstrated by the accuracy of the joints, the precision of the cuts and the perfection of the lines. The furniture is in excellent condition, restored and polished with shellac. All drawers have the stamp "TA" branded on them. The dimensions are as follows: 134 x 62, height 94 cm. Regular certificate of authenticity with photo is issued.
