Pair of carved and gilded wall shelves – Florence, second half of the 19th century
Elegant pair of wall shelves, made in Florence in the second half of the 19th century, in carved wood and gilded with pure gold leaf. The decorative motif is richly inspired by the Tuscan rocaille tradition, with moving foliate elements, volutes, and a large central shell that serves as an ornamental fulcrum. The fretwork on the back reveals the artisanal accuracy, while the shaped upper surface lends itself to housing small art objects or sculptures. Dimensions: Height: 25 cm Width: 25 cm Depth: approx. 13 cm. Condition: Structurally intact, with well-preserved original gilding. A small curl needs to be re-glued and a light and non-invasive cleaning is recommended, but overall they are in good condition. Worldwide shipping available.
