Roll-top desk
Article Description
Roll-top desk in walnut, Louis XVI style. A piece of furniture of beautiful proportions and pleasant elegance. It consists of a large drawer, equipped with a lock and two side drawers, one on each side, supported by four truncated pyramid legs, fluted and partly beaded. This desk has the particularity of the top. In fact, this is enclosed within a compartment concealed by a shutter that allows opening or closing, by means of a snap lock, through its sliding inside the cylinder. The writing area consists of two simple small drawers. Inside the large drawer is the true writing surface, which in turn slides, leaving the inside of the drawer free. The walnut wood, with all its beautiful shades, dominates the surfaces, as the decoration is limited to a simplicity, consisting of frames and moldings, almost austere. The furniture thus appears very pleasant and, although of considerable size, is light and refined. As the Louis XVI style dictates, the simplicity combined with a great refinement of finishes, essences, and proportions is masterfully represented in this piece of furniture.
