Small Lombard writing desk in Louis XVI style. Materials and Inlays: Made of precious rosewood, bois de rose, and boxwood, it features a rich veneer with inlays that enhance its beauty. The rectangular top is splendidly decorated with a central reserve in a circular shape. Inside, a mythological scene is depicted, probably Diana the huntress with a putto, made of boxwood creating chromatic contrast and depth. The central reserve is surrounded by an inlaid frame with a stylized plant motif of ramages, typical of the era, which is repeated along the entire edge of the top. The lateral bands of the top display a wood grain arranged in a herringbone or "checkerboard" pattern, creating a dynamic visual effect. Structure and Details: The desk is equipped with a front drawer, cleverly concealed and integrated into the band below the top. The drawer is embellished with a knob handle in brass. The legs, tapered and with a quadrangular section, narrow downwards, giving lightness and momentum to the structure. In the upper part, at the connection with the stem, the legs are decorated with stylized floral inlays, inserted in a dark field that creates further contrast. Style: The Louis XVI style is evident in the clean lines and harmony of proportions. The inlay decoration, although rich, maintains a certain sobriety and a classic taste, detaching itself from the redundancies of Rococo. The choice of woods and the accuracy of the inlays reflect the mastery of the Lombard cabinetmakers of the 18th century. Condition: Restored and French polished enhancing the grain and inlays. Lombardy, late 18th century. Dimensions: Height: 76 cm Width: approximately 78 cm Depth: approximately 38 cm A regular certificate of authenticity with photo is issued.
