Victorian Writing Desk in Maple and Walnut, England, Third Quarter of the 19th Century
Bean-shaped writing desk with a top in the typical bean shape, supported by a pair of turned legs resting on two movable feet each and joined by a crosspiece, all carved in walnut. The top is veneered in dense walnut burl with Moroccan leather inserts. A sloping-top writing desk, also covered in Moroccan leather, rests on the top and can be opened to reveal a pen and letter holder on the back. Inside the flap is a maple burl veneered compartment with a mirror. Product Condition: Due to its age and wear, the product may require restoration and polishing.
