Baroque mirror in carved and gilded wood, Turin, mid-18th century Measurements: cm H 194 x W 98 x D 10 Price: confidential negotiation Object accompanied by our certificate of authenticity The large and refined mirror, made in Turin around the mid-18th century, with original mercury glass, has a richly carved and gilded wooden frame. The frame, which envelops the entire mixtilinear-shaped mirror with motifs typical of the Baroque and Rocaille eras (known as 'pannocchietta'), has an important and rich openwork crest in which the ornaments are sculpted with phytomorphic and floral decorations. The crest, being elongated upwards and openwork, lightens the richness of the ornaments, making the ensemble graceful and well-balanced, although very precious. The volutes and the movement of the elaborate architecture of this mirror make it a particularly valuable object, distinguished by a beautiful gilding from which the warm red color of the bole emerges. The mirror, very decorative and of great scenic effect, is suitable to be displayed above a chest of drawers or a console in entrances, studies and lounges or in a bedroom. Very beautiful together with antique furniture, it can certainly bring a sign of elegance and refinement if inserted in modern contexts.
