Entirely lacquered in polychrome and gold with chinoiserie subjects, it is the work of the famous lacquerer Vizzo. In the 18th century, when the fashion for chinoiserie reached its peak in the West, Venice, the "Gateway to the East" and the undisputed master of the Mediterranean Sea, developed a large production of furniture and furnishings decorated in lacquer with scenes of oriental life, which reached very high qualities of realization. Among the great lacquerers is Vizzo, a refined lacquerer, to whom critics now recognize a body of furniture with evident comparable stylistic elements. The mirror consists of a molded wooden frame divided into six concentric elements. Externally and internally, the frame is thin, lacquered and decorated with gold vegetal motifs. Separating the two frames from the large central band are two graceful gilded wooden elements, carved with ball elements and twisted into a spiral. The inner part has a chinoiserie decoration characteristic of Vizzo's furniture. These are subjects of oriental inspiration, with Chinese characters and phytomorphic elements painted in gold. The background has a red base to imitate the tortoise shell, on which the ornaments stand out, embellishing the whole. This mirror is characterized by its originality and decorativeness. Very elegant, it is perfect both combined with antique and modern furnishings. Its dimensions also make it easily inserted into any environment, from the entrance to the study, in the living room or in the bedroom, placed above chests of drawers and consoles.
