Small carved, lacquered, and painted wooden mirror. Venice, 18th century. 70 x 50 cm. Entirely in finely carved, lacquered, and painted wood with elegant curls and bunches of grapes. Floral motifs decoration with a goldfinch. Influenced by original oriental techniques, Venetian lacquer developed in local workshops with a unique and unmistakable style. Its ability to reflect light and enrich environments with bright colors and varied decorations, often matching the rich fabrics that adorn the salons, soon made it a status symbol in the parlors of the time. Owning lacquered furniture and mirrors was a distinctive sign of wealth and refinement; the decorations had to be of high quality and capable of impressing the visitor. Table mirrors were a very elegant accessory for the exclusive use of ladies who used them for their daily toilette. Venetian masters created these miniature masterpieces that combined refined carvings, with friezes of leaves and festoons, with the finest lacquers in bright colors and decorations of all kinds (floral motifs, "Chinoiseries," or landscapes), indulging their imagination and reaching peaks of extreme elegance. - All shipments within the EU are free and professionally packaged. - Each item is sold with a certificate of authenticity with legal validity. - Further information on the condition report is available upon request. - Viezzi Arte guarantees quality and professionalism at competitive prices; contact us at info@viezziarte.it or via WhatsApp at +39 3402841279. *Message to non-Italian buyers: Please note that this artwork has not yet obtained the export license from Italy at the Superintendency of Cultural Heritage.
