Floral motifs decoration with a goldfinch. Influenced by original oriental techniques, Venetian lacquer developed in local workshops with a unique and unmistakable style. Its ability to reflect light and enrich environments with bright colors and varied decorations, often matching the rich fabrics that adorn the salons, soon made it a status symbol in the parlors of the time. Owning lacquered furniture and mirrors was a distinctive sign of wealth and refinement; the decorations had to be of high quality and capable of impressing the visitor. Table mirrors were a very elegant accessory for the exclusive use of ladies who used them for their daily toilette.
