Floral decoration with a goldfinch. Influenced by original Eastern techniques, Venetian lacquer developed in the workshops of local artisans with a unique and unmistakable style. Its ability to reflect light and enrich environments with bright colors and varied decorations, often matching the rich fabrics that adorn the halls, soon made it a status symbol in the salons of the time. Owning lacquered furniture and mirrors was a distinctive sign of wealth and refinement, the decorations had to be of high quality and able to amaze the visitor. Table mirrors were an elegant accessory exclusively for the use of ladies who used them for their daily toilette.
