SPECC559 - Blue and gold lacquered wooden mirror.  Carved with side columns, symbol of the Aesculapius and the Caduceus.  The Aesculapius is the symbol of medicine and rescue and is a sign of peace represented by a stick with two open wings and two intertwined snakes looking at each other.  The caduceus is interpreted as a representation of the god himself and is one of the oldest symbols in the history of human civilization.  At the base are carved flowers, a harp and a cornucopia: a symbol of prosperity and fertility.  19th century.
