INLAID SECRETAIRE - FRANCE - NAPOLEON III
French Napoleon III secretaire with inlays and marble top
Refined French secretaire dating back to the Napoleon III period (second half of the 19th century).
The piece of furniture stands out for its slender and harmonious structure, resting on curved legs and enriched with finely chiseled gilded bronzes in the corners, at the feet and on the locks.
The front features elegant floral inlays in light woods on a rosewood and rosewood background, arranged within shaped reserves that enhance its refinement.
The top is surmounted by the original marble, veined in shades of pink and grey, shaped on the edges with a beak-shaped motif.
The front part conceals a flap with an interior complete with small drawers with gilded bronze handles and an open compartment.
The surface of the flap top is covered in red leather (replaced more recently), ideal as a writing desk.
