This refined and elegant sideboard was made in France in the mid-19th century, in the Louis XV style.
It has a top made with a particular marble, with a complex structure, with a molded and curved profile and with the front corners lobed, slightly overhanging the furniture. The wooden structure of the sideboard is entirely veneered. On the front, there are two doors that conceal a compartment with two shelves. The doors, both externally and internally, are veneered in bois de rose which creates, with its shades, a refined chromatic effect, embellished by a wavy thread inlay in rosewood, which draws spirals, phytomorphic elements and foliage decorations. The interior of the cabinet is completely veneered in bois de rose, a rare and prestigious detail. The two shelves are made of solid mahogany wood, made in a later period. The uprights of the sideboard, the undertop band and the lower band that includes the four legs are veneered in violet wood, while the panels in the center of the sides are again in bois de rose, echoing the chromatic design of the front. The sideboard is embellished with finely chiseled and gilded bronzes of high quality and rocaille taste. The bronze applications include the lock escutcheons, an ornament placed in the center of the lower band and on the uprights, where they originate from below the top, with a scroll, and continue with foliage ornaments downwards, running along the entire perimeter of the edge to decorate the feet with phytomorphic and rocaille ornaments (sabots). The bronzes that define the front corners of the sideboard have the dual purpose of protecting them and illuminating the structure with gilding, making it precious and graceful.
The sideboard, of rare and unusual dimensions, is very elegant and of great decoration, easily placed in multiple environments, versatile in its use, and suitable for both antique and modern furnishings.
In good condition, there are some small missing parts on the veneer and some repairs to the marble top.
