Low coffee table
Hand-carved rectangular table,
Venice, first half of the 1900s
Small table with a light walnut top,
carved on four sides, the edge and the legs turned.
The band under the top is in Swiss pine,
a type of wood that has been particularly appreciated, since the early 18th century,
by Venetian carvers for the ease with which it could be sculpted.
On the four sides that join the turned legs
we find carvings of flowers and leaves typical of the Italian Liberty period
Restored and polished with shellac with a wax finish.
