Center cabinet in violet wood, Turin, Louis XV period, Mid-18th century
Center cabinet in violet wood, Turin, Louis XV period, Mid-18th century Measurements: cm H 79 x W 49 x D 34.5 Price: private negotiation Item accompanied by a certificate of authenticity This elegant and refined center cabinet was made in Turin around the mid-18th century. Characteristic of high Piedmontese cabinet making, a veneer with the precious violet wood was chosen for this piece, applied to the cabinet with a sophisticated play of mirroring and designs of the wood grain. The cabinet has a shaped and curved top, and the wood essence creates a chromatic effect called "bird's eye." The front consists of two drawers and a compartment protected by two doors. The door opening system is sliding, very rare and difficult to implement. The keyhole escutcheons are in chiseled and gilded bronze, as are the tips of the four legs, which are curved and graceful, typical of the Rococo style. This cabinet is perfect for any environment and can also be placed in the center of a room thanks to its finish on all four sides. It is also suitable both next to modern and antique furniture.
