Sample table with a circular black marble top with a sample of 120 different marbles and hard stones, plus the four marbles used for the decorative parts.
In the center, a roundel in Belgian Black encloses a micro mosaic depicting the Doves of Pliny, a subject taken from the Pompeian discoveries; from this circle, thanks to a complex geometric system of ellipses, a series of lozenges start, creating 120 housings for different marbles and hard stones; the whole is defined by Belgian Black threads, while a veined white alabaster is used to close the spaces left by the ellipses before the border, made in a Greek pattern with red, orange and green marbles.
The top of the sample table is supported by a column in white statuary marble, turned and carved with acanthus leaves in the base, resting on a portoro marble plinth.
