Genoese Lacquered Toilette, Late Eighteenth Century This chamber toilette is a superb example of Genoese lacquered furniture dating back to the late 18th century (approximately 1780-1800). It represents the neoclassical style in vogue in Genoa, characterized by slender lines and decorations with vegetal motifs and garlands. Main Features Type: Toilette (dressing table or 'coiffeuse') with hinged top and retractable mirror. Structure and Lines: The piece rests on four tapered legs, typical of the neoclassical era, decorated with leafy details and terminating with a slender fluted collar. The front features a shaped central recess to facilitate use while seated. Decoration and Lacquering: The furniture is splendidly lacquered in a pastel shade (a cream color with the patina of time) and hand-painted with decorations in neoclassical taste. Motifs: The drawer fronts and apron are embellished with delicate garlands of laurel leaves and red berries, tied by a blue beaded motif. Cascading garlands and a central star or stylized rosette motif can be seen on the sides and flanks. Top: The triple-opening top has a faux marble finish framed by a green border. Functionality: The two side panels of the top open to reveal internal compartments for storing objects and accessories. The liftable central panel hides the small mirror with wooden frame, essential for the function of the furniture. The front part has three drawers, a larger central one and two smaller lateral ones, for additional storage space. Condition The furniture has an authentic patina, with signs of wear and small losses of lacquer. The painted decorations, although slightly faded in some areas, are still clearly legible and of great visual impact. Dimensions: 86 x 46, height 83. Origin: Italy, Genoa. Period: Late Eighteenth Century (Neoclassicism). A regular certificate of authenticity with photos is issued.
