DescriptionSet of six vermeil silver salt cellars, Solomon Hougham, London, 1811. Each salt cellar has an oval body with a shaped rim, decorated with a refined floral and foliate motif. Each salt cellar rests on four smooth spherical feet, which provide stability and elegance. Noble heraldic coat of arms on the sides of the salt cellars. Vermeil, a technique consisting of applying gold plating to solid silver, was highly appreciated on Georgian noble tables to combine the preciousness of gold with the workability of silver.
