Description George II sterling silver lidded ewer, London, 1734. Flared body with subtly molded stepped circular base. Finely chiseled floral and foliage engravings on the surface, heraldic coat of arms engraved in the center of the body. Domed lid with chiseled floral decorations, hinged and surmounted by a shaped grip. Expanded spout with decorative openwork. Shaped and curved handle. Sterling silver marked with 4 hallmarks: Manufacturer's logo: unidentified Lion passant: hallmark of the alloy. Control guaranteeing the sterling title 925/1000 Leopard's head with crown: city of London Date letter year: 1734 Dimensions HxWxD 21cm x 21.5cm x 13cm Weight 1,152gr Provenance Private collection Conditions Slight signs of wear and superficial scratches. The four hallmarks are present on the side of the ewer.
