They are often made with an electroforming process, where a plaster core is covered with bronze through electrolytic deposition. This method was popular during the Art Deco period, between 1920 and 1935. Bookends are not only functional objects that prevent books from falling, but also decorative elements that can add a touch of elegance to a room. Signed and dated 1933 on the side and dedications on the back. Originally, in my opinion, they rested on a wooden or marble base, now missing.
