This pair of small candlesticks was made of gilded bronze in France in the 19th century, inspired by the Louis XV style.
The candlesticks have a richly chiseled stem with rocaille elements and phytomorphic tendrils that twist around the central axis, creating a tortile effect that gives movement and slenderness to the structure.
The base is mixtilinear and stepped, also moved by rocaille ornaments.
The gilding is made with matte gold and polished gold, finished with agate stone.
The candlesticks are very decorative and can be used, for example, on a surtout de table or on a set table. Rare in these dimensions, they have often been used on writing desks. They can also be placed on consoles and chests of drawers, next to antique or contemporary-style furniture.
