Workshop of moral and love themes Engraved and gilded pastiglia box Raised lid with trapezoidal section and flat at the top, closed by a pull Decorated with scenes from mythology and classical antiquity Wooden structure, gilded and decorated in relief with scenes made of pastiglia (mixture of glue and plaster) Ferrara, third decade of the 16th century Dimensions: 13 x 20.3 x 13.4 cm These splendid and refined artefacts with historiated decorations in pastiglia are linked to the culture of the Renaissance Este courts and the cultured environments of the 15th and early 16th centuries. Realities within which, Isabella d'Este and other noble and aristocratic characters cultivated their insatiable desire for ancient things, but also for contemporary works that evoked antiquity. In this context, pastiglia caskets, decorated with themes borrowed from Roman history and classical mythology, enjoyed great success. The work, like all our other objects, will be sold accompanied by certificate of authenticity. We personally take care of and organize the packaging and shipping of the works of art with insurance all over the world The object is provided with a certificate of free circulation, issued by the Ministry for Cultural Heritage, which certifies its age and gives the object the possibility of being exported. Work exhibited at the exhibition "MIRABILIA ESTENSI" Ferrara, Palazzo dei Diamanti, from 23 March – 21 July 2024.
