Gilded copper monstrance
Gilded copper monstrance, French or Flemish. The monstrance rests on a polylobate base. The central compartment, initially cylindrical in shape, was later replaced with a hexagonal shape. The sides of the monstrance are decorated with engraved spires and a pyramidal terminal. The monstrance is a container where the consecrated host was carried in procession during religious functions. The name derives from the Latin mottos "Monstrare et estendere". 15th century. Measurements: height 58 cm
