Embossed copper basin, Italy, 16th century
Embossed copper cooling basin with an oval body modulated with elongated lobes, a band under the edge decorated with concave ovoid motifs, and edged, on the upper part, with ovoid lobes.
Zoomorphic side handles (ears), in the shape of a lion's head with rings passing between the jaws.
Foot of very particular workmanship, also made of embossed copper, decorated with an elegant band of elongated concave ovoids and ending at the base in an engraved cord.

Typical of the Renaissance, basins of this shape were highly decorative furnishings. Always the prerogative of important patrician families, they decorated the sumptuous tables during parties and banquets.
