The Susse Frères Foundry is a historic French foundry known primarily for the production of bronze sculptures and decorations. Founded in 1839 by Auguste Susse, the company distinguished itself for the high quality and refined design of its works, often characterized by elaborate details and great skill in bronze casting. During the Belle Époque, Susse Frères collaborated with several renowned artists, helping to create some of the most iconic sculptures of the era and reaching the height of its notoriety.
This pair of vases made of yellow veined marble features Ormolu gilded bronze decorations signed by its designer and marked by the Foundry with numbering number 38. The bronzes, including the four satyr masks, wrap and decorate the shafts with elegant vegetal volutes and acanthus leaves.
