Florence, 14th century Green cipollino marble column with revolving capital Dimensions: 35 cm base, 33 cm capital, diam. 23 cm; h. total 111 cm Monolithic column in green Greek cipollino marble, coming from the Karystos quarry. Probably re-sculpted from an ancient Roman column. In Roman times the use of this marble, like that of Egyptian red porphyry, was exclusive to the emperor.
