Antique Persian carpet FARAHAN - n.118 -
Antique Persian Farahan carpet, from my private collection. It is a "kalleghi", that is the measure of carpet that is placed in the Persian houses at the top of the hall, almost as a headboard. Usually it is an important carpet and many times the name of the client and the date of execution are entered. This one has a dense "rize mahi" pattern all over the pitch and a series of 7 frames to testify to the importance of the carpet. It has many blue details, a precious and elegant color. The black background brings out all the other colors and the dense pattern, but it was obtained with iron oxide, which has corroded the wool: if you look closely, it seems that all the others
