GABBEH carpet of the Persian nomads - nr. 970 -
Carpet woven by nomads in south-central Iran and known by the term GABBEH. It was mainly used inside nomadic tents, then woven by the women of the tribe for their family use. They were discovered by curious travelers and brought to the West: they are now famous and collectible. This is part of my private collection, now for sale. Measure cm. 155 x 117 - Represents the tree of life with the (stylized) fruits of the pomegranate, a symbol of abundance. The background red is faded because the wools had been dyed with vegetable substances (as is usually the case for nomads). Attractive price for closing business ---------------
