Large Persian KUM or rather GHUM rug - no. 354 -
Refined example of GHUM from the Pahlavi dynasty, in a very fine "Cork" precious wool & many pure silk patterns, especially in the vases and bowls depicted. When I had admired those objects, they were in the museum of the Royal Palace in Tehran and were attributable to the "darvishi". In this rug, many details are in light silk, precisely to give brightness to the rug made in an unusual gray, actually very elegant.
A rug that deserves to be placed in a living room, even a modern one, perhaps all ivory or white.
