Antique VERNEH from a private collection - no. 780 -
Antique Caucasian VERNEH kilim of the best Caucasian tradition. This specimen dates back to the early 1900s and is in excellent condition.
It is made up of two parts because nomads did not have a fixed loom, but during migrations they composed the loom by planting stakes in the ground; when they had to leave, they rolled up the work already woven on the small loom that they recovered. When finished, the two parts were joined together, but sometimes the designs did not match: however, it is a characteristic and for collectors it has an extra charm, certainly not a defect.
The wool was spun by hand and dyed with vegetable substances, which form unique shades over time.
measures cm. 211 x 170.
