Fragment of ancient Turkish Konya carpet, applied on canvas as a panel. It dates back to the first half of the 19th century: an important date for a carpet, much more perishable than other works of art. It had been woven in Konya, historically known as Iconium, the most important city of the Anatolian plateau. It was the capital of the Seljuk Sultanate and then of the Ottoman Empire in the 15th century. its carpets are famous all over the world. This fragment measures cm. 112 x 95, on the panel of cm. 135 x 116. For a collector it can replace or complement an important painting.
