Rare antique Caucasian runner of exceptional quality. It was woven in the village of TALISH in the Martakert region of Nagorno-Karabakh: inhabited by Kurds and Armenians.
It bears the date 1318 (=1902) and the inscription "Amale sarkar khanuma..." (illegible), i.e. the name of the weaver. Wool spun and dyed by hand with natural substances -
